About Us
The Emmanuel Community Farm is a program of The Southfield Parks and Garden Club, which is a charitable non-profit community service organization located in Southfield, Michigan. The Club is organized as a 501(c)(3) public charity and is licensed to solicit funds (MICS #36233). Bringing healthy, fresh-off-the-farm produce to the tables of underserved people will hopefully increase their desire to have more of such food. It may be a spark to a healthier lifestyle, free from chemicals and nearer to hand. We hope that the Farm is just a beginning to develop more community gardens in this area, so that more people can take an active part to put fresh food on their plates.
It came about because the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Southfield found out that the Club had had difficulty finding a site for the Farm. The Church has long had active outreach programs for the underprivileged, and also had some vacant land next to its parking lot. They had spoken of doing some sort of garden there, and when the Club's plan was covered by a local newspaper it just seemed like a good fit, serving the charitable ends of both organizations.
We welcome volunteer efforts, support, and donations from everyone in the area.
Donations may be mailed to:
